Pantodium: our “skin biotech” active ingredient, which has already won four awards,

which stimulates the skin and scalp's natural production of vitamin B5

Cosmetic innovation is no longer limited to simply delivering active ingredients to the skin. Today, advances in biotechnology are opening the way to a new approach: helping the skin and scalp produce the molecules they need themselves. This is the concept CODIF TN has named Skin Biotech.

This is precisely the promise of Pantodium, a biotechnological active ingredient obtained through a marine fermentation process. Unlike traditional actives containing vitamin B5 directly, Pantodium acts on the skin microbiome to stimulate the natural production of this essential vitamin.

This biomimetic approach literally transforms the skin or scalp into a true « Skin Biotech Factory », capable of producing its own vitamin B5 according to its needs.

What is the origin of Pantodium?

Pantodium is an active ingredient developed from Codium tomentosum, a marine green algae.

Its specificity lies in its fermentation process.

Instead of using a simple algae extract, CODIF has reproduced the natural functioning of the marine ecosystem by fermenting Codium tomentosum with a naturally associated marine bacterium (present in its holobiont).

This fermentation process produces metabolites that are much more active than those found in a conventional extract.

Why is fermentation so interesting?

In nature, algae live in symbiosis with many microorganisms.

These bacteria naturally produce enzymes capable of breaking down large molecules present in the algae, transforming them into biologically active compounds.

Without this fermentation step, a conventional Codium extract would not be able to stimulate the natural production of vitamin B5.

Vitamin B5 is known for its many properties. It contributes in particular to:

— Strengthening the skin barrier and hair fiber.
— Improving hydration.
— Soothing sensitive skin.
— Supporting epidermal repair.
— Improving overall skin appearance.
— Reducing seasonal hair loss.

In summary

This innovative approach opens a new path in skincare, where the goal is no longer only to deliver active ingredients, but to help the skin fully harness its own biological potential. Through its action on the microbiome, Pantodium illustrates a new generation of biotechnological actives capable of stimulating the natural mechanisms of the skin and scalp.
