OF OUR RAW MATERIALS
EVERY NEW PROJECT STARTS WITH THE SELECTION OF A RAW MATERIAL
The rarity and originality of our sourcing are an integral part of our specifications.
We practice virtuous and sustainable sourcing which involves a study period of 1 to 2 years for each raw material of interest. During these 2 years, our teams have the mission to UNDERSTAND, identify and document the role of each algae, plant or microalgae in its habitat, and to identify the quantity of resources available in order to validate or not the possibility of a harvest in natural environment. If the conditions are not met, our researchers draw inspiration from the habitat to recreate cultivation conditions as close as possible to the natural environment.
OUR HARVEST CONDITIONS IN NATURAL ENVIRONMENT
The study of the life cycle and regeneration capacities of the plant allow us to define how to harvest, at what time of year, what tool to use for cutting but also where to cut. We are also committed to defining harvesting conditions with minimum impact on the environment. The use of flat boats limits potential damage to reefs; the cleaning of algae directly in seawater makes it possible to put epiphytic species back into the water and to limit rinsing water in the rest of the process...
The study of all the harvesting practices defined for each resource is finalized by the drafting of a charter of good harvesting practices which will be signed by the harvesters, committing to respecting it and even improving it.

OUR CULTURE PROGRAMS
CODIF is one of the most innovative companies, a pioneer in culture programs.
When the quantities are insufficient or when the resource is protected, we study the possibility of cultivating it. A study of cultivation and harvesting practices is then set up, following the same requirements as for the harvesting of wild plants. We grow algae at sea on submerged rope systems and plants in bioclimatic shelters.
OUR BIOTH-ECOLOGY PROGRAM
Bioth-Ecology is the contraction of the words "biotechnology" and "ecology".
The objective is to have a resource without exerting direct pressure on the environment.
In a space of more than 1,000 m², thanks to a photobioreactor system, we cultivate species of ancestral micro-algae or calcified algae accessible only by diving and never cultivated before. Biotechnologies also allow us to cultivate marine micro-organisms in bioreactors for the production of marine ExoPolySacharides.
